We didn’t know CDF during PF rule – Mambwe DC

MAMBWE District Commissioner (DC) William Banda says his residents never knew about the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) during the PF’s time in office.

Speaking on Tuesday during the handover of CDF empowerment grants and loans under the youth and women empowerment programme, Banda said before 2021, the fund was almost invisible in Mambwe.

He shared that residents only began to truly understand and benefit from CDF after the UPND came into office.

The DC noted that under President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration, the fund had transformed communities through tangible projects.

He cited initiatives such as the drilling of boreholes, the Cash for Work programme and the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure as life-changing interventions for families in the district.

“Before 2021, it was rare to even hear the word CDF. Most people didn’t know what it was because the figures were too meagre to make any impact. But today, we have seen real change,” he said.

“The government of President Hakainde Hichilema is truly for the people. Here in Mambwe, development is being felt in a very practical way. The agenda of government is being implemented through communities and the impact is visible.”

He explained that the distribution of grants and loans had opened opportunities for youths and women by creating self reliance and improving livelihoods.
