President Hichilema stated that Zambia must abandon the culture of working blindly and instead embrace clear, measurable targets that drive real change across sectors.

“We need to set targets. No country must work blindly, no business must work blindly. That is how we measure progress, create opportunities, and build confidence in our economy,” said the President.

He announced that government will broaden its focus beyond maize production to include other key sectors, a shift expected to boost business activity and job creation.

“We will expand targeting from maize only. That means more flow of business opportunities, more jobs for our citizens,” he added.

He emphasised that development must be a shared mission.

“Our success depends on our collective effort. No one should stand alone; we must do it together, each contributing in different ways,” he said.

He further urged citizens to take pride in building Zambia’s image and influence on the world stage.

“Let’s work and make ourselves more important in our country Zambia. That way, we are working to get our country back into the league of decent nations globally.”

President Hichilema also said that his vision is for Zambia to be known and respected for positive achievements that inspire peace and attract investment.
