The group has been charged with conduct likely to cause the breach of peace.

Last night, the group had gathered at the home of lawyer Christopher Mwenge where Mundubile was expected to address his sympathizers.

Mundubile was later seen passing through Chisamba Security Checkpoint on his way to Lusaka.

According to authorities, Police officers approached the crowd and advised them to leave peacefully, but some became notorious, leading to the arrest of twelve people, while others disappeared in thin air within the blink of an eye.

Others detained include Susan Mulenga Mwelwa, 64, Edah Chikusu, 72, Jean Chikubesho, 69, Abraham Shimanimamba, 26, Alex Shimanimamba, 20, Naphtaly Chulo, 72, Christopher Mwenge, 50, Morden Musala, 65, Austen Mumvalama, 50, Francis Cheleka, 50, and Ernest Malupande, 55, all coming from Katuba, Chibombo, Kabwe and Chadiza.

The detainees are currently in police custody at Chibombo and Liteta Police stations and can only be released after paying an Admission of Guilt fine for the offense of Conduct Likely to Cause a Breach of Peace.

Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga confirmed the arrest stating that while everyone has the right to assemble, such gatherings must be done according to the law.

“Anyone wishing to hold a public meeting, procession or assembly must seek prior notification from the regulating authority as stipulated under the Public Order Act,” Hamoonga warned.

Police have since cautioned political parties and citizens to coordinate with the police before holding public events to avoid conflicts.
