THE Oasis Forum has confirmed it has formally engaged State House over the proposed dialogue on the constitution amendment process, dispelling claims circulating on social media that it was ignoring calls for talks.
Forum chairperson, Beauty Katebe said the civil society group is committed to constructive engagement with the government.
Katebe assured the public that updates on the way forward will be shared after the State House discussions and national conversations.
“Contrary to some social media propaganda, we have engaged State House for a possible dialogue proposed for Wednesday,” Katebe stated.
This follows government concerns over plans by some sections of the Roman Catholic Church, and other religious groups to stage protests against the constitutional review process.
Home Affairs and Internal Security minister Jack Mwiimbu, warned that these demonstrations could divide the nation and undermine the church’s role as a unifier.
