Party members from across the province gathered to participate in the internal democratic exercise aimed at strengthening party structures ahead of the August 13 general election.
Provincial and youth chairpersons Obvious Mwaliteta and Anderson Banda have been re-elected.
Mwaliteta expressed gratitude to party members for renewing their confidence in the current leadership.
He described the outcome as a clear mandate to continue strengthening the party and consolidating unity within the province to mount up support for the Head of State.
“I reaffirm my commitment to mobilising members and ensuring a strong, coordinated campaign as the country approaches the August general elections,” he said.
Meanwhile, Banda emphasised the importance of empowering young people within party structures.
Banda highlighted the need to champion policies that directly address youth aspirations, including employment creation, skills development, and active participation in governance.
Later, Commissioner Patricia Nawa, led a delegation from the party’s national management committee (NMC), to supervise the electoral process.
Nawa commended the leadership and membership in the province for conducting the elections in a peaceful, orderly, and transparent manner.
“The province has set a commendable example of internal democracy, that other provinces across the country need to emulate,” she said.
Nawa, further expressed gratitude to the outgoing provincial executive for their exemplary leadership and for executing their duties with dedication and commitment to the growth of the party.
Another member of the NMC delegation, Martha Mushipe, emphasised the need for party members to rally behind the development agenda of President Hichilema.
Mushipe encouraged party structures across the province to remain united and steadfast in supporting and defending the party and its leadership as the country moves closer to the election month.
Meanwhile, commissioner, Grace Chivube, urged the newly elected provincial committee to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2026 general elections.
“The party structures must remain focused and committed and there should be no room for trial and error as the party prepares for the crucial national polls,” she said.
Other provinces across the country, are also expected to hold similar elections throughout the week as the ruling party continues strengthening its grassroots structures.
