Appearing on Diamond TV yesterday, Lubinda also rubbished the Tonse Alliance council of leaders meeting scheduled for Tuesday next week which was announced by the alliance’s spokesperson Sean Tembo.
Lubinda stated that only Nakacinda can call for any Tonse meeting and that can only happen after the PF holds its national convention.
He explained that once the former ruling party elects its presidential candidate, Nakacinda will call for a Tonse meeting, which will automatically unveil that candidate as the presidential flagbearer for the alliance.
Lubinda revealed that the PF will hold its convention before the end of November, after which the public will be informed accordingly.
“The central committee of the PF held its recent meeting last Saturday and in pursuance of peace and unity within the party, we developed a roadmap leading to the holding of the national convention which will usher in a new central committee and president of the PF who will also be presidential candidate of the Patriotic Front and by extension, in accordance with the agreement with Tonse Alliance partners, the one who shall be the presidential candidate for the Tonse Alliance,” he explained.
“The Tonse Alliance will be holding a meeting when secretary general Raphael Nakacinda calls for it. The practice in the past has been that soon after the central committee of the PF convenes a meeting, a day or two later, the Tonse alliance council of leaders convene a meeting. Nakacinda will announce when we will convene the next meeting of the Tonse Alliance.”
He also dismissed the recent list of new Tonse council of leaders released by Tembo and Zumani Zimba as fake.
“The list is not true, anything released by Sean Tembo and company cannot be attached to the Tonse Alliance council of leaders,” he stated.
However, Tembo insists that the list was sanctioned by late former president Edgar Lungu.
