PF acting president Given Lubinda has insisted that every decision he has made since taking over the leadership of the party, including the firing if Davies Mwila and five others has been for the good of the party and not to serve any individual interest.
Speaking at his residence yesterday during a briefing, Lubinda said he had never used his position to favour anyone, stating that his main goal is to keep the PF stable as it heads towards the long-awaited convention.
He said the PF had survived difficult times over the last four years and he would continue working to protect it.
Lubinda, who is also vying for the PF presidency warned that any confusion in the PF affects Zambia’s democracy since the party remains a major political player.
The former Kabwata lawmaker assured supporters that the party is still on track and that no internal fights or external pressure would stop PF’s programmes.
“I will not and I have not made any decision in my position as president of this party or acting president as many would like to refer to me which was in the interest of any particular individual,” Lubinda said.
“Later on myself, all the decisions that I have made and God help me, all the decisions that I will make as I hold this position will be in the best interest of the party that you can rest assured.”
Meanwhile, the party has once again pushed back its much-anticipated elective general conference.
Party presidential aspirant Makebi Zulu, announced that the Given Lubinda-led faction agreed that the gathering which was slated for November 29, will not proceed as earlier planned, due to internal wrangles in the party.
