THE Samuel Zoom Ndlovu Charity Shield clash between ZESCO United and Power Dynamos yesterday briefly turned into a Copperbelt celebrity showdown when rappers Y Celeb and Slap Dee crossed paths.
Fans who had come to watch the traditional curtain-raiser for the MTN Super League were treated to an unexpected halftime spectacle when Y Celeb attempted to storm the stage while Slap Dee was mid-performance at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Quick-footed security blocked the 408 Empire frontman before he could get anywhere near the ‘Nomba ninshi’ hitmaker.
Barely days ago, the two were reported to have exchanged altercations and blows at the just-ended Agriculture and Commercial Show in Lusaka.
And their bad blood goes further back to 2023 in Kitwe when Y Celeb famously showed up on stage with a dog together with his gang in a stunt to disrupt Slap Dee’s set, sparking one of Zed Hip Hop’s most talked-about feuds.
But before the halftime drama could graduate into round two of the Lusaka tangle, the security personnel defused the tension, allowing the second half of the actual match to resume.
Meanwhile, on the pitch, ZESCO United were in no mood for theatrics.
The Ndola giants thrashed Power Dynamos 2-0, securing the Charity Shield for a record sixth time.
