Police nets ‘zebra dress’ girl over Kalumbila mob killing

THE young woman who was clad in a black-and-white zebra-striped dress as a life was being beaten out of an innocent woman has finally been cornered by police.

Grace Njapau, the now infamous “zebra dress” figure seen in the viral videos of the Kalumbila mob killing, has been apprehended and is cooling her heels in police custody.

Njapau was picked up yesterday around 19:00 hours in Mwinilunga District after police tracked her movements following public outrage over the gruesome footage that spread on social media platforms.

On Friday, a mob in Kisasa area of Kalumbila District turned into a pack of ruthless attackers, descending on 46-year-old Eneless Hellen Kamutumbe.

Using stones, sticks and other objects, the mob violently beat Eneless’ to death over bizarre accusations of stealing a 25-year-old Prince Ntambo’s manhood.

But while others in the mob blended into the chaos, Njapau stood out in the forefront visibly poking a stick in the dying woman’s private part while laughing out loud, making her one of the most recognizable faces in a video many wish they had never seen.

Njapau now joins a growing list of suspects linked to the savage killing, as authorities tighten the net around everyone who took part in the attack.

Police spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi has confirmed the arrest, warning that more suspects will be picked up as investigations continue.

“Investigations are ongoing, and further arrests are expected. Updates will be provided as the situation develops,” Chilabi stated.
