A MATERO Woman’s attempt to open an illicit drug hub in North Western Province has been cut below the belt with no indication of fruitfulness after police apprehended her for being in possession of suspected illicit drugs and substances during a routine security check in Mufumbwe District.
Much like a seasoned mobile businesswoman trying to expand her hustle, Grace Banda decided that Mufumbwe was ripe for a branch of her not-so-legal pharmaceutical empire.
Banda, who seemingly mistook a Toyota Allion for a delivery van, was intercepted by alert police officers in North-Western Province while en route to Kikonge Mine with an unusual cargo of drugs that make people high!
According to police, the woman was found with 21 bottles of Benylin with codeine, 162 sachets of suspected marijuana, a loose plastic bag full of the same green goods, and a sweet K11,070 in hard cash, possibly change for her first customers in Mufumbwe.
Her driver, 26-year-old Lawrence Siame from Mandevu Compound, was also caught in the web when the vehicle, registration ALX 5379, was pulled over during a routine check around 19:40 hours yesterday.
It is reported that Grace was ready to open shop and introduce Mufumbwe residents to Matero’s finest exports, the type that makes one cough for different reasons.
“The matter has since been handed over to the Drug Enforcement Commission for further investigations,” said police assistant spokesperson Chipo Kaitisha in a statement.
As it stands, the only thing opening in Mufumbwe is a case file and Grace Banda may need some real medicine soon, like panado for legal headaches.
