In 2022, Ng’andu trended for spending K400,000 in Chicagos for his 50th birthday.

The arrest comes after Ng’andu Consulting Limited formally reported concerns to the Inspector General of Police, alleging that Ng’andu diverted funds from the sale of company vehicles into his personal bank account.

According to a letter dated June 5, 2025 and signed by fellow directors Eng. David Mwale and Eng. Mumbuwa Liyungu, the company had authorised the sale of seven vehicles through public auction in October 2024.

The vehicles were handed over to a third party agent, Walumart Auto Limited for sale on behalf of the company.

However, the directors allege that Ng’andu, who acted as the liaison between the company and the agent, instructed the agent to deposit the proceeds from the sales into his personal account rather than the company’s.

Bank records show that only one payment of US$5,000 from the sale of a single vehicle was deposited into the correct company account.

The remaining funds from six vehicles, according to the complaint, were transferred to Ng’andu’s personal account between December 2024 and March 2025.

When contacted for confirmation, police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said he would give a statement later.
