The graduands displayed their newly acquired skills with, performing simulated fire drills, handling hoses with expert control and executing rescue operations coupled with synchronised salutes under the watchful eyes of their instructors and guests.

Speaking during the pass-out parade, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Gift Sialubalo, said firefighters are the frontline guardians of life, property, and the environment.

He reminded the graduands that their duties extend beyond extinguishing fires.

“You are henceforth commissioned to go and serve our people and safeguard their properties too from the threats of fire and other calamities. Carry your new qualifications with pride and dignity,” he said, urging them to treat their new roles as a calling to humanity and not just a career.

Sialubalo further noted the vital role of firefighters in addressing climate change, particularly in sensitive areas such as the Kafue Flats, and challenged the graduands to remain vigilant protectors of both communities and natural habitats.

The Minister also praised the training staff for their tireless work under challenging conditions, assuring that the government is committed to improving training facilities and expanding capacity through public-private partnerships.

“We have seen the evidence of your hard work as a school. Keep it up,” he said.

The ceremony drew dignitaries from government, local authorities, unions, and international partners, including the chief fire officer from Lilongwe, Malawi.

Families beamed with pride as the graduates marched off the parade ground, ready to face the challenges that come with one of Zambia’s most demanding and noble professions.
