Recently, a viral video showcasing a young woman’s flashy lifestyle ignited widespread speculation among social media users, who claimed that the woman in question was Nalumango’s daughter and had allegedly received a sum of $10,000 from her as a gift.

The video in question earned a range of reactions, with some users purporting that the woman’s extravagant lifestyle was the result of support from her allegedly high-ranking mother.

These claims however, proved to unfounded as the office of the Vice President promptly dismissed these them as baseless.

In a statement issued by Press Aide Njenje Chizu, the Vice President’s office clarified that the woman featured in the viral video is not related in any way to Nalumango or her family.

Chizu addressed the grave implications of misinformation in the digital era, condemning the rapid proliferation of false claims on social media.

“We are deeply disheartened by the rapid dissemination of false information in the digital age, where truth often takes a back seat to speculation and misinformation, these claims about the Vice President’s alleged relationship with the woman in the viral video are not only baseless but also represent the serious consequences of rumors run amok,” Chizu stated.

He emphasised the damaging consequences of these false reports and their potential to tarnish the Vice President’s reputation as an advocate for transparency and responsible public service.

“Furthermore, we reject the assertion that the Vice President gifted the woman in the video with a sum of $10,000, not only are these claims unfounded, but they also detract from Vice President Mutale Nalumango’s unwavering commitment to transparency, equity, and fiscal responsibility.”

He declared that Nalumango is a woman of faith, mother to her children and most significantly, a servant of God and the Zambian people.

He added that her children like her possess the same values of diligence, humility and strength that have come to define Zambia as a nation.

The office of the vice president further appealed not simply for correction, but for reflection that the truth must never become optional however, citizens must remember that behind every viral image is a real person, a real story, and often, undeserved harm.
