SOCIALITE and content creator of ‘many things’ Ruth Mukanga, popularly known as Ruth Ronnie has lamented to the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court that her 25 year old ex boyfriend has been trying to blackmail her with nude videos of herself which he secretly recorded.

Mukanga stated this on Friday as she faced her alleged abuser in an assault case.
Brian Kapyanga, 25, is facing one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
A visibly shaken Ruth narrated before the court that she endured a toxic and abusive relationship, which escalated on July 7, 2025, when a night out ended in violence.
She said after leaving Decapo in the early morning, the pair went to her residence before heading to Longacres for food.
While there, a confrontation with strangers triggered an argument between her and the younger ex boyfriend.
She narrated that matters quickly turned violent as her ex boyfriend punched her repeatedly, pulled out her hair and broke her finger while some unidentified men held her.
Ruth alleged that he filmed the ordeal and threatened to circulate the videos online to shame her.
The court heard that after the assault, Kapyanga demanded repayment of a K500 he had earlier spent on her, seized her phone and bag, and dragged her to Longacres Police Station where he allegedly attempted to use hired witnesses to frame her.
“I was badly injured, weak, and in pain. Instead of helping me, he kept recording and saying he would post me for being drunk,” Ruth told the court.
She added that she later sought medical treatment at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH), where an X-ray confirmed her injuries.
Beyond physical abuse, Ruth said she discovered that Kapyanga had been secretly recording intimate videos of her throughout their relationship as they devoured each other’s forbidden fruits and later used them to blackmail her.
“There was a time we almost reconciled after he and his family asked me to forgive him. But I later discovered that he had secretly recorded nude videos of me to use for blackmail. He even threatened me, saying that people who go to prison eventually come out. I found the videos on his phone and confronted him,” she explained.
“Although I managed to delete them, I cannot be sure that he did not store them elsewhere.”
Despite family-led reconciliation attempts, she told the court that the abuse persisted, with her ex-boyfriend whom she probably met at a certain music talent show, harassing her at home, sometimes with the help of others.
