A NINE year old girl has been stripped of her innocence by a neighbour in Mazabuka while she was innocently alone.

What began as an ordinary Sunday in the life of the toddler, escalated immediately after two of her friends under the age of 10 left her playing by herself.
With a devilish mindset, and a wicked eye the perpetrator engineered his plans around 18:00 hours, the defiler lured the girl into his house, where he molested her.
Southern province police commanding officer Auxensio Daka confirmed the incident which occurred two days ago around 19:00 hours in Kaleya Station Compound of Mazabuka District.
According to Daka, the situation quickly escalated when the victim’s grandmother realised her granddaughter was no where to be found.
Fearing the worst, she desperately searched the compound, her heart pounding in her chest as every second felt like eternity.
In a desperate attempt to find her missing grandchild, the grandmother’s efforts were rewarded when she heard a faint cry for help, her footsteps quickened, and she followed the sound of the child’s voice, her heart sinking as she realised that her beloved granddaughter was in grave danger.
Daka revealed that the grandmother located the victim, who narrated that she had been dragged into a house by a male individual who sexually abused her.
“She then led her grandmother to the suspect’s house, where he was identified. The suspect was later apprehended by concerned members of the public,” he said.
A medical report form was then issued to the victim.
“The suspect is detained in lawful custody and will appear in court soon,” added Daka.
