AFTER years of being pierced by whispers and side-eyes-of being measured by a wedding ring and diaper bags, Mampi finally chooses to rewrite the story others kept trying to write for her.

Social media has now turned into a loud courtroom masked in silence, where everyone feels entitled to comment on how others should live their lives, especially when it comes to marriage and having children, as if personal peace and private journeys are up for discussion.
This made Mampi become a frequent topic among some of her fans, with them throwing shade her way, particularly whenever she shared moments celebrating her friends who are married.
But tired of being silently judged for not fitting the mold, Mampi, whose real name is Mirriam Mukape has come with a message that cut through the noise.
“Just do you—live, love, laugh, while holding on to what God has promised mankind,” she said.
In a world obsessed with timelines and checklists, Mampi offered a different gospel, asserting that nothing in life is guaranteed, not age, not love, not even legacy.
“What guarantee do you have that your children or husband will live to see you grow old? And is it even guaranteed that you will grow old?” she questioned.
While she acknowledged the blessings of family and financial comfort, she warned against turning those blessings into weapons of mockery.
“If you’re blessed with kids, a husband or money, count your blessings. But stop mocking those who don’t have what you have. Mukasebana.”
The Zambian songstress’ post wasn’t just a rant, it was a rallying cry, a call for kindness, empathy and self-reflection.
“People are fighting battles you can’t see, be kind to one another,” she said.
She further hinted that new music might be her next move to express what words alone can’t.
“I have been quiet but bachilamo, Elo fingi ndefwaya ukulanda…Maybe I should put my views on a song so that everytime that song plays bazimvesesa mweh. Hmmmm Awe my tired is tired,” added Mampi.
