Lundazi MP buries younger sister Angela

NINE months after Lundazi Member of Parliament Brenda Nyirenda lost her elder sister Charity, yesterday she stood by a grave at Leopards Hill Memorial Park to lay to rest another sibling, her younger sister Angela.

The gates of Leopards Hill Memorial Park swung open to a solemn convoy of black and white as lawyers, family and friends turned out in large numbers to bid farewell to Angela Nyirenda.

Angela, who breathed her last after a short illness at the age of 48, was lowered to rest flanked by scores of lawyers dressed in their somber black robes, colleagues who came to honour the woman many described as brilliant and disciplined.

Born on November 23, 1976, Angela was the fifth child in a family of six.

In 1997, she joined the Zambia Police Service, the same year she met, Albert Chisanza, the man who would later become her husband. A year later, they tied the knot, a union blessed with three children.

Angela’s thirst for knowledge pushed her to pursue a Diploma in Journalism at Everlyn Hone College, later a Bachelor of Laws at Zambia Open University, before clinching a Master’s in Defence and Security at the University of Zambia and another in Taxation and Investment at ZCAS.

In 2023, she finally completed her Law degree.

Armed with her legal qualification, Angela went on to serve at the National Prosecutions Authority (NPA) where she worked as a State Prosecutor.

Through it all, Angela remained a faithful Christian, a woman of prayer and humility who carried her Bible as much as she carried her law books.

At Leopards Hill, tears rolled freely as her family struggled to come to terms with yet another painful goodbye.
