40 year old Royd Simumba of Nsansamwenje Village, reportedly defaced his wife, Philisy Nakazwe, 42, after stabbing her with a scissors several times before heading to the roadside to take his life.

Nakazwe lay unconscious in a pool of blood after sustaining multiple deep cuts to her head and face, reportedly inflicted by her husband,

Moments later, Simumba ran from the scene and threw himself into the path of a moving truck on the Isoka Road.

According to police, the violence followed a disagreement that began earlier in the previous day.

On January 4 at about 09:00 hours, Nakazwe attempted to visit her parents within the same village, but her husband denied her request.

Nakazwe, however, found her way at her parents house but when Simumba found out that his wife went against his order, he reportedly followed her, brought her back home, and later went drinking in Isoka Central Business District.

Muchinga Province police commissioner Dennis Moola said the argument resurfaced when Simumba returned home around 22:30 hours.

During the confrontation, police say Simumba picked up a pair of scissors and stabbed his wife several times in the head and face.

“He stabbed the victim with a scissors multiple times on the head and face. Upon seeing the blood oozing out profusely, he unlocked the door and ran towards the road side.”

“The victim who was wailing came out side and fell unconscious to the ground a neighbour ran towards the house and found the victim in a pool of blood. Later, he alerted nearby neighbours and took the victim at Nsansamwenje Clinic,”he said..

Meanwhile, Simumba, who ran towards the main road and threw himself in front of an oncoming truck was found on the Isoka Road.

The driver reportedly attempted to swerve but could not avoid him as the trailer struck Simumba, leaving him with a deep head wound.

Villagers later picked him up and took him to the same clinic where his wife was receiving treatment.

Both were later transferred to Isoka District Hospital.

Police officers who visited the clinic before the referral found Nakazwe unconscious, with multiple visible cuts to her face and head.
