PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says even though he does not wear a ring on his finger, he is very loyal to his wife, First Lady Muntinta Hichilema.
Speaking when he opened the National MSMEs and Cooperatives Indaba in Lusaka today, President Hichilema said he was aware that some young people assume he is not loyal to his wife simply because he does not wear a ring.
He explained that while he may not wear it physically, he carries symbol of his marriage in his heart.
“I don’t wear a ring and some people think my wife is vulnerable because I don’t wear rings, no. I wear her ring in my heart,” said President Hichilema.
He however urged the audience to purchase rings for themselves in order to support small businesses making jewelry.
The Head of State also encouraged young people at the Indaba to stay loyal to their partners even when they start making money.
“But buy rings so that the MSMEs producing rings can find customers. Be loyal to your partners young people, be loyal to your girlfriends, your boyfriends, your wife, your husbands. When you Zambians make a little bit of money, you like misbehaving, you take away the respect for your partner. A little money must make you more disciplined,” said the President.
