Health workers recruitment list will be out in 2 weeks – Katakwe

THOUSANDS of applicants as health workers will soon know their fate as government says the long-awaited recruitment list will be released within the next two weeks.

Health Minister Alex Katakwe said the process has reached its final stage, with officers currently wrapping up data verification before publication.

Dr Katakwe said the list of successful candidates would be made public in the media to ensure transparency and allow applicants to confirm their status.

“I have tasked the officers responsible that within two weeks from now we should have the names of the successful candidates published in the newspaper so that the nation is informed and applicants are aware whether they have been picked or not,” Dr Katakwe said.

He added that the ministry was currently concluding statistics and final checks to ensure the process was accurate before releasing the names.

“So currently the nation can be assured that we are concluding the data and statistics for the successful candidates so that we are able now to release to the public,” Dr Katakwe assured.

Meanwhile, the Minister revealed that government plans to recruit an additional 2,500 health workers in 2026, subject to availability of funds.

“Government intends, depending on the fiscal space, to recruit 2,500 health workers this year,” said the minister.
