Criminals murder, mutilate ZNS soldiers

POLICE in Lusaka are investigating the brutal murder of two Zambia National Service soldiers, one of whom had his hands chopped off.

According to sources within police, the bodies of the murdered soldiers were partly charred and left lying besides their government-issued AK47 assault riffles.

The two officers are said to have been on duty at the Service’s Furniture Factory in Lusaka West when they were murdered.

According to ZNS chief of public relations and liaison Brigadier General Mable Mulenga, the two experienced soldiers were found unresponsive near a section of heavy machinery at the factory.

However, she said the exact cause of the incident remains under investigation, with factory management and authorities working to determine what led to the fatal accident.

She stated that preliminary investigations by the Zambia police service point to the possibility of foul play and such, ZNS is collaborating with the police to establish the circumstances that led to this unfortunate incident.

“The Service is treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and urgency it deserves,” she said.

She urged all ZNS staff to stay watchful and cautious, assuring that updates will be shared with the public as the situation evolves.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families during this difficult time. ZNS Command will not rest until the circumstances surrounding this tragedy are brought to the fore,” added brigadier general Mulenga.
