Chiko Wise to be buried in hometown Chingola – ZAM

FOLLOWING the death of celebrated Zambian singer Chiko Mwenya Mumba, popularly known as Chiko Wise, the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) has announced that the late artiste will be put to rest in his hometown of Chingola on the Copperbelt.

Chiko Wise, who died in the early hours of yesterday at the University Teaching Hospitals (UTH) in Lusaka after suffering complications from a pre-existing heart condition, will first be accorded an artistic send-off in Lusaka before his remains are transported to Chingola.

According to ZAM president Brian Bwembya also known as B Flow, the send-off ceremony will take place at the Lusaka Playhouse tomorrow, from 08:30 hours to 11:30 hours.

“Chiko Wise will be granted an artistic send-off at the Lusaka Playhouse on Thursday 26 March from 08:30 to 11:30. Plans to transport his body to Chingola after the Lusaka Playhouse send-off are underway, and burial will be in Chingola, his birthplace,” said B Flow.

He added that preparations to transport the body to the Copperbelt town are already underway immediately after the Lusaka ceremony.

Chiko Wise, whose hits included Mukasende (Napapata Ba Mayo), Shintwala featuring Afunika, Kumanda featuring B1 Mr Perfecto, and Gelo Wamawanu featuring Afunika, was known for electrifying performances and a career that reflected both dedication and creative brilliance.

His passing comes as the music industry is still reeling from the death of Charlie Bravo, founder of Sling Beats, who died on March 3, 2026 at Levy Mwanawasa Hospital after a short illness.
