CDF turns Katete farmer into agriculture expert

A 39-year-old farmer in Katete is reaping more than just crops after successfully graduating with a certificate in Agriculture, a programme fully sponsored by the Katete Town Council Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Henry Mushanga, who previously depended solely on traditional farming knowledge passed down through generations, now says he is equipped with modern agricultural techniques that will significantly boost his productivity.

Mushanga shared that through the course, he has learnt how to identify the right seeds, use correct farming methods, and apply appropriate chemicals for different crops, adding that the knowledge will help him diversify into poultry and other farming ventures.

“Before going to do this course, I was just doing farming. So this programme will help me to continue and improve my farming but this time with the knowledge that I have acquired,” said Mushanga.

The fresh graduate told #Kalemba that without the support of CDF, attaining such an achievement would have remained a distant dream as he could not afford the fees.

“I never spent anything, it was all CDF till my graduation,” he said.

With his graduation certificate in hand, Mushanga now joins a growing number of Zambians whose lives are being transformed through CDF interventions aimed at empowering communities through education and skills development.
