CDF breathes new life into old Kaaba Hill School with first ever classroom block

FOR the first time in its over a century existence, Kaaba Hill Primary School in Kaoma District of Western Province has finally moved out of its grass-thatched shack and into a modern, government funded classroom block, all thanks to the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Cheers erupted and smiles lit up the faces of pupils, teachers and community members as Kaoma Town Council officially handed over a newly constructed 1×3 classroom block to the 102 year old school.

It is the first ever such development since the school was established in 1923.

Kaaba Hill School has now brought cheers of hope to over 400 pupils who have endured learning in harsh, unsafe conditions for generations.

Kaoma Town Council Chairperson Tauzeni Libinga, who presided over the handover, described the classroom block as more than just bricks and mortar and calling it a tool to empower children and the community.

Libinga noted that the investment is in line with government’s vision to reduce illiteracy and improve access to quality education in rural areas.

“Education is the foundation of national development. This classroom block represets our commitment to ensure no child is left behind,” said Libinga.

Representing the Kaoma Town Council secretary, deputy director of engineering Raymond Katongo said the project was in response to the school’s dire need for proper infrastructure, a problem that had persisted even before Zambia gained independence.

Katongo added that the facility comes fully furnished with desks and powered by solar energy to support learning even in low light conditions.

“This classroom block will make a significant difference in the lives of these learners. It is a step toward achieving inclusive and equitable education for all,” he said.

Kaoma District education standards officer Zwanga James also praised the development, saying the long forgotten school has finally received the attention it deserves.

He credited the growing CDF allocation, particularly from 2022 onwards, for enabling such impactful projects across Mangango Constituency.
