THE Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has approved a reduction of K1 in bus fares on local routes while inter-city bus fares remain unchanged.

The decision to lower bus fares follows a recent fuel price reduction announced by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB).
ERB slashed fuel prices by K3.36 per litre for petrol and K1.99 per litre for diesel which was effective from June 30, 2025.
However in a statement, RTSA indicated that the new reduced bus fares took effect from July 5, 2025.
The K1 reduction in bus fares for local routes was reached through a collaborative process involving the RTSA and the Bus and Taxi Owners Association of Zambia (BTOAZ).
