Full of ups and downs, her journey from a cardiac patient to revered medical doctor with two degrees in the process has been nothing short of inspiring and amazing.

Being armed with two degrees and seven certificates is not a joke especially for a person who suffered from cardiac problems for five years, how can the feeling not be surreal?

Young medic told Kalemba how she faced cardiac problems from 2007 to 2012 and made a solemn vow never to let anyone endure the pain she experienced.

Suffice to say, this was a decision solely made out of compassion and love for humanity.

Despite warnings from her cardiologist about the demanding nature of the medical profession, she pursued her passion fueled by compassion and personal experience.

“My cardiologist tried explaining how I may be in and out of school should I get stressed.”

“Well, he didn’t lie but I worked hard such that one review date he said to me,”I want you to sit in my chair as cardiologist,” recounted Kandale.

She re-emphasised that her motivation stems from a desire to positively impact the lives of others.

“I kept telling myself that no one had to go through the pain I had endured for years. So I would say I became my own motivation,” she shared.

This journey she said has not been one without challenges.

Kandale recalled how she fell into depression in her final year.

“Going forward, some days were harder than most, some days I felt lost, scared, anxious, happy etc,” noted Kandale.

“Days were moving faster than I would have liked and everything felt like a movie.”

Kay Kandale recently graduated Human Biology, Medicine and Surgery from Apex University.

She is now officially married to medicine as she proudly puts it out there and her name changes from Kay Kandale to Dr. Kay Kandale.

She now awaits a few applications to go through so she can proudly volunteer before her licenture exams this September.
