VLOGGER and street teacher of English Simon Mwewa has refused to share a stage with the ‘Northern white powder baptist’ Cosmas Ng’andwe alias Logic at the upcoming Born and Bred Awards, saying he cannot stand with someone who disrespects elders.
The two personalities have recently been at odds online over the controversial practice of ichimbuya during the funeral of Mpali star Wanga Zulu who was better known as Amai Guru.
Mwewa criticised the Mwizukanji film maker for taking part in the practice of smearing his Eastern tribal cousins with mealie meal which led to heated exchanges on social media.
The Simoson-based tutor of English revealed during one of his videos that he was invited by celebrated producer and media icon Innocent Kalaluka to present an award at the born and bred award ceremony.
However, he said the invitation came with a condition that he would have to co-present alongside his Facebook rival Logic.
“I told Innocent, this is where you are wrong. If I agree to stand with Logic, I would be telling young people it is okay to insult elders and ignore cultural values. I cannot do that,” Mwewa said.
Mwewa said that respect for elders is a value deeply rooted in Zambian culture and something he was taught by his parents.
“I will not stand on the same stage with someone who promotes disrespect. That goes against everything I stand for,” he said.
The eldest Zambian vloger added that his decision is non-negotiable.
“I love Innocent, but I would rather turn down the award than stand on the same stage with Logic and send the wrong message. Respect for elders and our culture comes first,” added Mwewa.
