After setting social media ablaze last week with hints of a “new position,” the renowned artiste revealed yesterday that “Kwenyu” is in fact, his brand-new song, now available on YouTube and all major streaming platforms.
The gospel powerhouse had netizens guessing and theorising when he posted the intriguing “Kwenyu” message on his Facebook page, leaving many to wonder if he was making a political stance after being a son of the house in the previous government.
Kwenyu is a Tonga word meaning to mark, which has been recently popularised by President Hakainde Hichilema who has been using the term mark out the achievements his Government has achieved since taking over the country’s leadership.
However, addressing the media, Kings stated that he has no intentions of joining any political party.
“My loyalty is first to God, then to the ministry, and to the nation at large,” Mumbi declared, emphasizing that his “Kwenyu” is not politically aligned but rather a moment of declaration, a declaration of hope.
He acknowledged that his choice of the word “Kwenyu” might raise eyebrows, especially since it’s popularised by President Hakainde Hichilema.
“Some people may have a problem with this because it’s associated with a person they may not support,” he admitted.
However, he stressed the Christian principle of loving and praying for all leaders, regardless of personal feelings.
“I borrowed the term ‘Kwenyu’ from President Hichilema, who uses it to mark areas in our country where his government has recorded success.” He explained.
“It’s essential that the word Kwenyu doesn’t become a source of division among us, based on tribal lines or political party affiliations. We are one people, and we can only achieve much when we come together in unity and love.”
Kings also touched on the premature backlash he received on social media from those who assumed he was joining the ruling party.
“Hichilema is my President, and I borrowed the Kwenyu word from him because it is a good word, making the success of what the President has done,” he reiterated.
“‘Kwenyu’ is more than just a song, it’s a declaration of faith, a reminder of God’s faithfulness and love.”
He extended an invitation to his fans to join him on this journey of faith and celebration, exploring the depths of God’s love and mercy.
“Let’s declare ‘Kwenyu’ together, a mark of God’s faithfulness and love in our lives. May this song be a blessing to many, and may it inspire us to trust in God’s goodness and sovereignty,” added the artiste.
