WHAT was meant to be one of those dramatic superstar moments where an artist leaps into the crowd and gets carried like a freshly slaughtered goat on Christmas Day for Chingola-based rapper and producer 3P of the Kopala duo ‘4 na 5’, the stunt turned into something straight out of a village wrestling match.

3P whose real name is Chafye Lawrence got baptised with slaps and alleged that he was hit with something that he believes could have been a metal bar after he jumped off the stage onto the crowd during his Trade Fair performance.
Following the incident, social media went into overdrive, suggesting that when the artistes jumped from the stage, fans gave way for his body to kiss the ground with romantic attraction of gravity.
Social media had been awash with claims that the “Nalitumpa” hitmaker, had fallen flat on the ground like a dropped cabbage after attempting to crowd surf, but according to him, that is not what happened.
In a live video on his Facebook page, 3P explained that while performing, he decided to pull off a daring jump from the stage into the crowd, hoping for the classic superstar moment where fans lift the artiste up in admiration.
Without even informing his ancestors, 3P launched himself from the stage like an Olympic long jumper, straight into the waiting arms of the audience.
At first, there was that brief two-second moment of glory where he floated above their hands like a king being paraded through the village square.
But in an unexpected plot twist, some hands started pulling him in all directions like they were fighting for salaula at Soweto Market.
Others suddenly forgot they were at a music show and remembered that belts and shoes are expensive these days.
“Bane, I did not fall. The fans actually held me, but that’s when some started pulling me, beating me… I even suspect someone used a metal bar on me because I felt something hard hit me. Others were busy removing my shoes, belt and grabbing my belongings,” 3P narrated.
Despite sustaining injuries from the dramatic scuffle, 3P said his love for his fans kept him going.
“I continued performing because I couldn’t just leave the stage like that. I only went for treatment after I finished my set,” he said.
Zambians on social media had earlier circulated the video with hilarious captions, joking that the rapper had broken his leg after being “rejected” by his fans midair.
But now, 3P insists it was not a failed stunt, but rather a case of rogue elements in the crowd taking advantage of the moment.
