THE Matero Local Court has dismantled a 19-year old marriage of a committed Jehovah’s Witness couple after hearing how a Kingdom Hall elder tossed away his Awake and Watchtower magazines to chew the wife of his young brother in faith.

In the said case yesterday, Offrin Muyaya, a 44-year-old truck driver, came crying before Local Court Magistrate Harriet Mulenga, saying he could no longer stand Mildred Kunda as his wife because another man had enjoyed the pleasures of her waist.
To Muyaya, his wife’s betrayal had hurt him so deeply that he was prepared to walk away from a nearly two-decade marriage that had given him four children.
Muyaya, a Kabanana resident, disclosed that his wife confessed to adultery with none other than Angel Simwanza, a Kingdom Hall elder whose name starkly contrasts with his actions.
He told the court that he could longer be with a woman who had offered herself to another man, worse off, his best friend and brother in faith.
“One day, my wife just started apologising out of nowhere, then she confessed that she had committed adultery. I was so hurt because I truly trusted her. Honestly, I can’t even say much,” he stated.
When called upon to tell her side of the story, Mildred readily admitted having done the sinful deed with the said married elder but blamed it on a long spell of bedroom starvation.
Mildred said her husband had hardly touched her in five years because he was constantly out on duty as a truck driver.
She complained that Muyaya had also not been adequately providing for her and the children.
The 38-year-old testified that in desperation, she turned to elder Simwanza, whose generosity extended beyond just sharing witness doctrine teachings about how to inherit paradise.
The elder tossed away his Awake and Watchtower magazines to take Mildred through a pleasure-filled paradisal bedroom experience.
But after elder Simwanza had expertly and illegally cleaned the cobwebs of Mildred’s secret interiors, guilt consumed and got the better of her.
And like a good witness should, Mildred went to the Kingdom Hall and confessed her sin before a shocked congregation, after which she also spilt the beans to her ever travelling husband.
But upon hearing the confession, Muyaya, in complete disregard of the numerous verses urging forgiveness in the New World Translation Bible, ran straight to the Matero Local Court seeking to divorce Mildred.
In her ruling, magistrate Harriet Mulenga granted the couple divorce and declared that neither party would receive compensation.
Magistrate Mulenga then took a moment to admonish the two, urging them to reflect on their actions and the emotional toll their choices had taken, not just on each other, but on their children and families.
“Mildred, despite whatever you were going through, you had better options because as a married woman, you can’t allow yourself to go to that extent. What shocks me even more is the role of your church. How can a leader who preaches against adultery be the very one committing it? I honestly fear for the congregants and it’s deeply disappointing. And as for you, Muyaya, you also played a part in this. You neglected your wife and gave her no attention,” Magistrate Mulenga noted.
The court ordered that Muyaya maintains his four children with k2,500 effective October month-end.
