A LUSAKA man has narrated before the Matero Local Court how he was chased from the house he was paying for like lava from a volcanic eruption, after finding his wife dribbling another man in their matrimonial home stadium.
It is reported that he had no time to even react or vent out his frustration but came out running as the wife took disturbance of their love making to look for shovel and chased him away like an unwanted fly or mosquito
This was unveiled in a heated divorce proceeding of 32 year old Linos Chanda of Kabanana and his 25-year-old wife, Sharon Mwila’s where Chanda surrendered his ten year union following their separation.
Chanda alleged that during their 18-month separation, Sharon was unable to suppress her sexual urges, leading her to pursue a relationship with another man, whom she had frequently mentioned during their time of living together in the same house.
Despite their separation, Chanda remained devoted to supporting his wife, providing for her housing expenses.
However, he lamented that his kindness was being taken advantage of, as Sharon allowed another man into her home, enabling him to reap the fruits of Chanda’s generosity without his knowledge.
Chanda further stated that even when he visited Sharon, she withheld her affection and attention from him, suggesting that she had grown distant and dismissive of their marital bond and could not take care of him in the night by caressing his baby making machine and making him feel like a man.
“Whenever we would argue before our separation, Sharon would taunt me that there is a ‘Joseph’ who makes her happy and the same Joseph was the man I discovered in her house, a house that I had been paying for. Instead of Sharon showing any remorse for causing me pain, she chose to chase me away with a shovel, rather than express regret,” Chanda reported.
“I separated from Sharon because she often declared that she didn’t love me, she even insisted that even if I were to become wealthy and acquire a car, her feelings would not change. She was steadfast in her rejection of me.”
Turning the tables in the courtroom, Sharon presented her side of the story, vehemently denying Chanda’s claims and instead accusing him of encouraging her to become a Salama Park slay queen and start selling her pot of honey in between her legs to the other gender.
“He would ask me to engage in sex work by suggesting that I line up at any Lusaka lodge and profit off what I have in between my legs unlike asking him for money anyhow,” she disclosed.
She stated Chanda would insult her.
Presiding over the matter, magistrate Lewis Mumba noted that this marriage is beyond reconciliation especially considering the prolonged period of separation of one-year-and-six-months, which may have allowed both parties to engage in illicit relationships.
He addressed Sharon’s alleged use of weapons against her husband and the breakdown of trust and respect within their marriage.
“The fact that you resorted to threats of violence with tools especially at the time you were caught red handed with someone else, is a sign that there was indeed domestic violence in your marriage,” the magistrate noted.
He cautioned that telling a partner that “they are not your type and that you do not love them” is hurtful and damaging to the foundation of a relationship.
“Claim upheld, divorce granted. No compensation awarded to either parties. Mr Chanda, you are to pay K500 for child maintenance every month,” ruled magistrate Mumba ruled.
