TikTok video of side chick in hubby’s shirt ends Lusaka marriage

A ONCE-enviable marriage in Lusaka has been shattered after a wife stumbled upon a shocking TikTok video of her husband’s secret lover wearing his clothes on his phone.

22-year-old Mercy Kayane of Lusaka’s Matero compound made the painful decision to divorce her long-time husband after uncovering his extramarital affair through a TikTok video.

The incriminating clip, featuring 29-year-old Jacob Zimba’s girlfriend wearing his clothes, sealed the fate of their once promising marriage, revealing a cruel truth that left Kayane with no choice but to end their union.

Kayane recounted an incident earlier this year where she confronted her husband’s mistress upon discovering their affair and after the confrontation, the mistress allegedly insulted her, prompting her to file for defamation lawsuit that resulted in a successful ruling and compensation.

The court ruled in Kayane’s favour and ordered the mistress to compensate her.

However, Kayane was left disappointed as her husband, Zimba, rather than supporting her during her time of need, chose to assist his mistress in paying the court ordered compensation.

Appearing before magistrate Harriet Mulenga at the Matero Local Court, Kayane testified that after the defamation case, her husband abandoned their marital home, choosing to reside elsewhere.

Kayane insisted that her husband was indeed staying with his mistress, stating that the woman had posted a video on TikTok wearing Zimba’s clothes.

“He left the house for two to three weeks without informing me and after that, he sent his friend to retrieve his belongings. The next day, he returned to collect the rest of his things, stating that he was taking them to his father’s house as he wanted us to separate for a while,” Kayane recalled.

She added that her mother-in-law then informed her that Zimba was looking for a new place to live.

Kayane said church members even tried to intervene and Zimba promised to change, but he never returned home.

“After some months, he returned home and one day, while he was at the barbershop, I checked his phone and discovered a TikTok video featuring him and his girlfriend wearing his shirt,” she revealed.

She disclosed that when she confronted Zimba of his alleged infidelity, he replied that she made him feel less of a man and he went to a woman who would make him feel more like a man..

“I can’t love a man who would treat me this way, these words are loaded with coldness and disregard for my feelings,” she added.

Zimba denied the existence of a girlfriend and claimed that he left his matrimonial home simply because it was located close to his parent’s house.

He stated that the other reason for his departure from his home was because his wife would frequently disrespect her, even going as far as slapping him and sharing their private matters in public whenever they had issues.

“When I moved out, I invited my wife to join me in my new residence but she refused so I decided to stay alone. If she wants to come and join me, she’s welcome to but I will not go back to the house we shared because it’s too close to our parents’ home. I still love my wife and I do not have a girlfriend. The TikTok video was merely a misunderstanding,” he added.

In passing judgment, magistrate Harriet Mulenga observed that the relationship between the two is irreparable as both parties are equally responsible for the breakdown of trust and communication.

Magistrate Mulenga divorced the two and also blamed Zimba’s girlfriend as the cause of the divorce.

“Based on the evidence presented and the testimony of both parties, it is clear that this marriage has reached a point of no return. The introduction of a third party, namely Zimba’s alleged girlfriend, has permanently damaged the trust and stability of this union,” she said.

“I hereby dissolve this marriage, ordering Zimba to compensate wife with K5000 in total, payable in installments of K1000 initially and K500 every month thereafter,” magistrate Mulenga ruled.
