FOLLOWING the death of seven people in the Mushindamo accident yesterday, Government has expressed grief, extended condolences and vowed to have renewed safety.

The incident, involving a bus with 36 passengers and an oncoming truck with a protruding load, occurred at Lunga Bridge on the Solwezi-Chingola Road on Thursday.
North Western Province Permanent Secretary, Colonel Grandson Katambi, who visited the accident victims last night, conveyed the government’s deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and wished a swift recovery to those injured.
“We are shocked and saddened by this tragic event, and our thoughts and prayers are with the community as we come together to support those impacted,” stated Colonel Katambi, who was accompanied by Deputy Permanent Secretary Luckson Mulumbi.
According to a statement by North Western Province principal public relations officer Gloria Kinkoleng, the government went beyond the messages of condolence and underscored the critical importance of road safety in the wake of the fatalities.
The Permanent Secretary emphasised the need for heightened vigilance on the roads and called upon all road users to exercise caution and strictly adhere to traffic rules to prevent future occurrences of such devastating accidents.
As the country mourns the loss of the precious lives lost, he reminded motorists of the importance of road safety and the need for vigilance on our roads.
