A FEMALE police officer in the country’s capital, Lusaka, has found herself in hot soup after sharing x-rated photos and Mwaka-type of videos in various WhatsApp groups.

The 29-year old officer is said to have shared the steamy content in various groups
including one for the Zambia Police paramilitary groups, much to the shock of her bosses and colleagues.
Identified in court as Nyarai Kambelembele, the officer appeared before Lusaka Magistrate Peter Mungala this week facing two serious charges under the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act of 2021.
Prosecutors alleged that between September 24 and 27, 2024, Kambelembele not only kept obscene material on her phone but also pushed it into circulation in the Paramilitary Jubilee Intake 51/52 WhatsApp group, sparking embarrassment in the ranks.
But the case could not take off just yet. State prosecutors told the court that one of the counts requires a formal consent letter from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) before plea can be taken.
Magistrate Mungala granted the request and adjourned the matter to September 24, 2025, when Kambelembele is expected to finally take plea and her bond was extended.
