THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has set August 8, 2025 for mention and fixing of Judgement date in a case where former Lumezi member of parliament Munir Zulu is charged with hate speech.
Zulu, 35, of Meanwood Ndeke pleaded not guilty to expressing or showing hatred, ridicule or contempt for persons because of race.
It is alleged that Zulu on March 28, 2023, in Lusaka, uttered words which he said,” I am a villager from Lumezi, but I can tell you that villagers from Lumezi are more intelligent than villagers from Bweengwa” an expression which was deemed to shows hatred, ridicule or contempt against a group of persons namely the villagers from Bweengwa.
Zulu is currently at Lusaka Central Correctional facility (Chimbokaila)serving other sentences of defamation, seditious practices where he was sentenced by different magistrates.
