Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) has confirmed Solwezi Airport as the Official Host Partner for the inaugural Solwezi Motor, Mining and Agriculture (MMA) Expo, scheduled to take place from 8 to 9 May 2026. The Expo is a flagship national event organised by Lusaka Happening and is expected to become a key annual platform supporting Zambia’s productive sectors.
The Solwezi MMA Expo brings together stakeholders from the motor, mining and agricultural value chains, providing a single platform to showcase equipment, technologies, services and innovations critical to Zambia’s industrial and economic growth. Hosting the Expo in Solwezi reflects the region’s strategic importance as the country’s mining hub and an emerging centre for agricultural and commercial activity.
Speaking on the partnership, the Managing Director of Zambia Airports Corporation Limited said the decision to host the Expo at Solwezi Airport aligns with ZACL’s broader mandate of leveraging airport infrastructure to stimulate local, national, regional development and economic activity.
“ZACL is pleased to partner with Lusaka Happening on the Solwezi Motor, Mining and Agriculture Expo. This collaboration reflects our commitment to positioning airports not only as transport facilities, but as strategic enablers of trade, investment and community development. By hosting this Expo at Solwezi Airport, we are supporting key productive sectors while unlocking economic opportunities for the North-Western Province and the country at large,” Mr. Urvesh Desai said.
The partnership is expected to generate increased passenger awareness, stimulate demand for aviation-related services, and create positive spill-over effects for local businesses, hospitality, logistics and employment. By attracting exhibitors, investors and visitors from across Zambia and the region, the Expo will reinforce Solwezi Airport’s role as a gateway for economic engagement and industrial collaboration.
ZACL’s support for the Expo underscores the Corporation’s belief in strategic public–private partnerships as a catalyst for sustainable development, enabling shared value creation.
As Official Host Partner, ZACL reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that drive connectivity, investment and socio-economic impact, while advancing its vision of developing airports as engines of economic transformation.
