Over 34, 000 learners benefit from free education in Kanchibiya

KANCHIBIYA Member of Parliament Sunday Chanda has heaped praise on President Hakainde Hichilema for introducing the free education policy which he says has massively changed lives.

In 2022, President Hichilema’s administration implemented free education from primary through secondary school.

The policy has so far seen over 2.5 million children who has dropped out due to lack of fees back in school.

According to Chanda, free education is a progressive policy which has transformed lives in Kanchibiya District with 34, 521 learners beffiting from it.

“17, 772 boys and 16, 749 girls. These numbers tell a powerful story. More children are in school. More families are hopeful about the future. And more young minds are being prepared to contribute to the development of our nation,” shared Chanda on his Facebook page.

However, the law maker stated that increased enrolment also brings new responsibility as cassrooms are becoming fuller and the demand for more classroom space and desks is growing.

“Our task now is clear: to match access with quality infrastructure so that every child in Kanchibiya can learn in a safe, dignified and well-equipped environment,” he explained.

“Education remains the strongest foundation for community development, and Kanchibiya is moving forward: one classroom, one desk, and one learner at a time.”
