THE private parts of Prince Ntambo, the 25-year-old man whose claims of “vanishing manhood” sparked a deadly mob attack in Kalumbila, have been found intact and undisturbed, police sources have told Kalemba.
On Friday, a violent mob at Kisasa Market descended on 46-year-old businesswoman Eneless Hellen Kamutumbe, beating her to death with stones, sticks and planks after Ntambo accused her of magically stealing his manhood.
Following the gruesome incident report which has been condemned by many including President Hakainde Hichilema, police arrested Ntambo along with seven other people.
However, a Police officer close to investigations has told Kalemba that upon being checked, Ntambo’s ‘Copper cathodes’ are intact and appeared undisturbed.
According to another police source, the chaos reportedly started after Ntambo uttered some sexist remarks as Kamutumbe walked past him at the market.
When she confronted him over his behaviour, Ntambo allegedly called her prostitute and accused her of stealing his manhood.
It is after hearing Ntambo’s claim that the mob descended on her and started assaulting her in full public view.
After noticing that his false claims had gotten out of hand, Ntambo tried without success to rescue her from mobsters.
Even attempts by a concerned member of the public to hide her in a nearby house failed, as the mob tracked her down, dragged her out and continued the brutal attack.
Police officers who rushed to the scene were also attacked with stones, making it difficult to rescue her as the situation spiralled out of control.
Kamutumbe later died from the injuries sustained and her body was dumped along the Mwinilunga-Solwezi Road before police managed to retrieve it and rush it to Wumi Mini Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
So far, 17 suspects, including Ntambo, have since been arrested, while three police officers were injured and a police vehicle damaged during the chaos.
Meanwhile, President Hakainde Hichilema has condemned the brutal killing and ordered security agencies to ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
“That is not how the Republic of Zambia works, and it is not who we are as a people. Extrajudicial violence of this kind is a heinous crime and will be treated as such,” the President said.
The tragedy has left a family shattered, with Kamutumbe, a mother of six, leaving behind young children, including a two-year-old and a husband who is reportedly traumatized and has struggled to speak since receiving the news of her death.
As investigations continue, the incident has sparked nationwide outrage, with many calling for stronger action against mob justice and misinformation that continues to cost innocent lives.
