Miles Sampa rubbishes Makebi convention

THE so-called general conference that produced Makebi Zulu as PF president is a nullity, according to PF Secretary General for politics Miles ‘Mbappe’ Sampa has declared.

On Saturday, social media platforms sympathetic to Makebi Zulu announced that the lawyer had beaten Chishimba Kambwili, Willah Mudolo, Greyford Monde, Dr Chilufya Chitalu, Given Lubinda and Chanda Katotobwe for the PF presidency.

Following the highly secretive vote, former minister of religious affairs in the Edgar Lungu regime, Reverend Godfridah Sumaili declared that Makebi had been hand-picked by God himself.

But Miles Sampa, who himself staged a similar convention back in 2023 where he was elected party president, triggering an everlasting legal battle said no PF convention took place, according to a ZNBC report.

The Matero lawmaker who eventually donated the party presidency to Given Lubinda said the party will only hold a convention once a court order is discharged.

Sampa explained that the PF remained respectful of the court order, noting that no convention had taken place.

In a voice note released to ZNBC, Sampa said this followed a restraining order issued by Kabwe Judge-in-Charge Hancubwili Limbani.

Sampa is not the only one who does not recognize the convention and Zulu.

Mudolo, a South African based candidate distanced himself from the secret vote declaring it illegal and unconstitutional.

But typical of the confusion in the former ruling party, Zulu was declared duly elected by members regarded as senior in the party.

Since 2023, the PF has been preoccupied with taking each other to court, forming alliances and exiting from them.
