UNZA graduands cloth coffin of dead colleague with graduation gown

THE mother of Kelvin Miyoba, a graduand who died weeks until his graduation has been left speechless as her son’s university colleagues from the University of Zambia Ridgeway Campus presented her with a graduation gown during the burial procession.

The gown was given as a symbol to remind the family that they raised a true champion who started his academic race as a pharmacist and completed it excellently.

“We were handed over the gown which we the former classmates bought for the mother ,as a trophy and sign for the mother and family to look at for remembrance of their son, as well as the portrait,” one of the graduads told Kalemba.

25 year old Miyoba was buried this afternoon and won’t be able to wear his gown on May 22 but his friends made sure that his academic achievements are recognised by buying a gown and presented it to deceased’s mother.

The mother was left speechless for a while as heavy emotions enveloped her face and tears flowed down her cheeks, while appreciating the gesture.

“My boy Kelly! I had a lot of plans for you. All these years we have suffered together moving together, I have lived this life for you my boy, why did you do this to me?”

“Your life was just starting…my boy, my baby Kelly ”

Miyoba was discovered lifeless by a friend he had been staying with in Makeni.

Details leading to the discovery of Miyoba’s body are that sometime around 17:00 hours, six days ago, his relatives received a phone call from his friend informing them that he had been found dead.
