THE works of Kalemba, the Zamtel 2025 best online publication has received a nod of approval from the country’s highest office.
President Hakainde Hichilema remarked that Kalemba was “doing a great job,” as he interacted with the publication’s senior reporter George Musonda at State House this afternoon.
This was during a one-on-one chat with Musonda that also came with a photo opportunity after the Head of State swore in Solwezi East lawmaker Dr Alex Katakwe as Minister of Health Mfuwe Member of Parliament Mufunelo Malama as Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development and Dr Tuesday Bwalya as Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary.
As President Hichilema interacted with journalists after the swearing in, his face immediately lit up with a broad smile when Musonda introduced himself as a journalist from Kalemba.
“Ooh Kalemba, you guys are doing a great job,” the president said in a warm baritone voice that suggested he was also an avid follower of the platform whose works have earned it two other awards.
Kalemba continues to receive recognition from various institutions for its reporting and public interest journalism.
Recently, the Zambia Metrology Agency (ZMA) crowned Kalemba with the CEO’s Special Recognition Award for helping spread awareness about correct measurements and consumer protection.
The award adds to a growing list of accolades the media platform has collected over the past year.
On September 28 last year, Kalemba emerged victorious as the Best Social Media News Page, a highly competitive category which saw the platform beat other established media outlets including ZNBC Today, Diamond TV Online, Mwebantu and Nkani.
Barely three months later, the platform scooped another award when the Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) honoured Kalemba for its health reporting and outstanding contribution to public health communication.
The latest recognition by ZMA further cemented Kalemba’s position as one of the country’s fast-growing digital news platforms committed to informing, educating and entertaining audiences across Zambia.
