Trio gangrape Kalulushi woman at cemetery on New Year’s Day

POLICE are looking for three men in connection with the abduction and gang-rape of a 25-year-old woman at Kalulushi Cemetery in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Mwala Yuyi confirmed the ordeal to #Kalemba, identifying one of the suspects as a man known only as Emmanuel.

According to police, Grace Mwenya was reportedly abducted while heading home from Zebra Complex, where she had been drinking beer.

Yuyi said on the material day, the complainant went to Zebra complex where she was drinking beer alone until the following day at 00:05 hours she started going home.

On her way home, she saw a vehicle heading towards Kalulushi Main Bus Station and stopped the vehicle.

When she reached near the car, she found that the one who was calling her was Emmanuel who was with two men in she can identify if seen and thus how she got into the vehicle.

When they reached the station, Emmanuel did not stop and proceeded to Kalemba Complex area within Kalulushi [on] Kalengwe Road where they were dropped and started drinking beer with the two men.

“Whilst there, she got drunk and she was dragged into the near by bush where the duo took turns in raping her and sustained painful private part and general body pains,” the police commissioner stated.

“The suspects tore her trousers, T/shirt and her underwear, left her at the scene where she failed to move as she didn’t know where to go.”

At 05:30 hrs, when she gained consciousness and discovered that she was at Kalulushi Cemetery, she went back home.

The survivor sustained severe injuries, including bruises and painful private parts.

She later reported the matter at the Police where a medical report form was issued to her.

Yuyi said the survivor can identify the other two men if seen.
