IN a year dominated by breaking news, politics and the constant chatter of social media, Kalemba did more than report the story, it became the story itself.

As 2025 comes to a close today, Kalemba looks back at the time it cemented its position as Zambia’s leading social media news page by collecting two awards that reflect its influence, credibility and reach.

Kalemba’s first triumph came in September, when it was named Best Social Media News Page of the Year at the Zamtel 2024–2025 Social Media Awards.

The awards, held at the majestic KK Wing of the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, brought together business leaders, top executives and Zambia’s most prominent social media content creators.

Guests adhered to a black and gold dress code which added glamour to a night of recognition for digital excellence.

On this September 28 this year, we emerged victorious in a highly competitive category, beating other established platforms including ZNBC Today, Diamond TV Online, Mwebantu and Nkani.

The award was about celebrating platforms that consistently provided accurate, timely and engaging news, while using social media to connect communities and spark national conversation.

Justice Minister Princess Kasune was the guest of honour.

Barely three months later, Kalemba added a second trophy two weeks ago from the medical profession.

On December 19, the Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) honoured Kalemba for its health reporting and outstanding contribution to public health communication.

During a gala dinner at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, Minister of Health Dr Elijah Muchima and ZMA President Dr Masiku Phiri presented the award to Kalemba managing editor Dawood Salim.

For this and more, we say thank you to our followers!
