Siwale, described by many as humble and hardworking, was attacked on last week’s Tuesday night after picking up two male passengers from a supermarket for a short trip that was supposed to end at a local nightclub.

But somewhere along the way, the ride turned into a nightmare.

According to the Copperbelt Online Taxis Association, Siwale’s attackers tricked him by pretending to make a harmless stop in Ndeke.

When one of the men stepped out of the car ‘to deliver food’, the other suddenly stabbed Siwale inside the vehicle.

As the wounded driver tried to escape, the first passenger rejoined the attack and stabbed him again.

Siwale was left bleeding on the roadside while the two suspects drove away with his car.

Good Samaritans later found him gasping for air and rushed him to hospital, but despite spending three days fighting for his life, he died from his injuries.

Yango expressed deep sorrow, promising tougher safety measures following the murder incident.

In a statement obtained by #Kalemba, the company said it had already reached out to the family and is working with police to bring the killers to justice.

“The safety and well-being of everyone who uses Yango remains our highest priority,” the company stated.

Yango has also announced a fresh review of its safety system, including more real-time trip monitoring and improved alerts for drivers operating in high-risk areas.

The company disclosed that it will support Siwale’s family as investigations continue.

Siwale has since been laid to rest.
