TRANSPORT and Logistics Minister Frank Tayali says President Hakainde Hichilema’s decision to walk away from the violent incident in Chingola instead of ordering retaliation showed true leadership.
Speaking to UPND members in Kitwe yesterday, Tayali said the President could have easily used his power as Commander-in-Chief to respond with force when his motorcade was stoned by unruly youths at Chiwempala Market, but he chose peace instead.
The Ndola central lawmaker stated that the President’s calmness prevented bloodshed and showed that he is a God-fearing leader who values peace.
“This is a Commander in chief, if he said sort them out, it wouldn’t have been well. But Mr President you decided to simply walk away,” Tayali said.
Tayali expressed disappointment with what happened in Chingola and warned the group of Jerabos suspected to be behind the attack to stop their violent behaviour before the law catch up with them.
“You Jerabos who did that in Chingola better stop, we will sort you out,” he warned.
“President Hichilema has brought peace and no one will take this country back to violence.”
