Speaking to the United Party for National Development (UPND) officials in Kitwe, President Hichilema said he had previously shown restraint towards those who caused disturbances but will not allow such behavior to continue unchecked.

The Head of State also cautioned that some of those behind the Chingola disturbances may be planning further disruptions, possibly targeting polling stations.

However, he warned that such acts would not be allowed to succeed.

“I protected those who disturbed us yesterday. Baleichindika, (they should behave themselves), they should not extend their luck,” President Hichilema warned.

The President reminded party members that after the UPND won the 2021 elections, he instructed them not to take revenge on anyone, even those who tortured them for the sake of peace.

“Abena Chingola, we must introspect, we must work as one,” the President further said.

On Saturday, President Hichilema’s visit to Chiwempala in Chingola was cut short after unidentified individuals turned violent and started throwing stones at him, disrupting the event.

This forced security officers to rush the Head of State to safety as chaos erupted, with a police vehicle and the presidential tent later set on fire.
