STAUNCH PF cadre Chomba Kaoma has reacted to yesterday’s Chingola chaos, stating that if some people can’t respect President Hakainde Hichilema as an individual, then they should atleast, respect the office he holds.
Yesterday, chaos broke out during a presidential address in Chingola which saw the Head of State’s holding tent and portrait burned.
His motorcade was also stoned.
In a Facebook post, Kaoma stated that the President had a serious decision to make at his finger tips as commander in Chief but he chose peace over humiliation.
He said the Head of State walking out instead of allowing his men and women in uniform to shoot makes the Head of State stand out as a star and father figure who cares for people.
“The Presidential Protection act is clear and straightforward “Anything or object that endangers the life of the President must be disbanded with all its occupants” in an event of a security breach, the President is always put in a tight position to make a very hard decision, mainly, this decision is a life or death situation.”
“This decision is more of an instruction on the amount of force the Presidential security team should use in order to Protect him, if truly HH was bad hearted he could have chosen blood shed over humiliation but clearly the President chose humiliation over bloodshed and the great people of Chingola should thank him for that,” he wrote.
He warned that people should never underestimate the extent to which the system can go when it comes to protecting the President.
“Had HH chosen the path of distraction to flex his power the opposition could have had a field day calling him a killer but the man chose humiliation over everything. Mule tasha.”
“Being in opposition does not mean supporting everything No. let’s not seek political success on the back of national failure, HH is no super human is just a simple human being created by God with feelings just like you and me. He equally has his breaking points as well,” said Kaoma.
He urged opposition leaders to play politics of law and respect the Presidency.
“Let politics be a game of ideas and not a platform to incite Anarchy and encourage lawlessness in the name of “things are bad” suffering is no excuse to breaking the law! Let’s respect the Presidency, if you can’t Respect HH as an individual, atleast respect the office he holds.”
“For me the President showed Maximum leadership by walking the route of humiliation but saving so many lives in return. It’s better to loose the battle but to stop the war!! Mbuli nao ni guy,” he said.
