A YOUTH from Monze Central Constituency Miyanda Mutaka has called on young people to rally behind leaders who have proven record of action rather than those who only make empty promises, as the nation prepares for the 2026 general elections.
Mutaka said the youth have both the power and responsibility to shape the future by electing leaders who understand their challenges and are committed to addressing them.
“It’s time to support leaders who deliver not just promise. Youths must look beyond words and focus on those who have demonstrated genuine care and investment in their lives,” he told #Kalemba in an interview.
He singled out Victor Cheelo, an aspiring member of parliament in the constituency as a youth leader who has gone beyond rhetoric by investing his personal resources in initiatives aimed at empowering young people in the constituency.
According to Mutaka, Cheelo has supported several community-based projects, including the provision of car washing machines, revolving funds, and assistance to marketers, all designed to improve livelihoods and create sustainable opportunities for young people.
“Cheelo has proven himself to be a leader who truly cares about the youth. While others have amassed wealth without giving back, he has used his resources to uplift the very people he seeks to represent,” he stated.
He further urged young voters not to be swayed by short-term handouts or manipulated by politicians seeking personal gain, emphasising that the youth should make informed decisions at the ballot box.
He also encouraged youths across Monze Central to actively participate in the political process and take ownership of the nation’s direction.
“We are the future of this country, and it’s time we take charge of our destiny,” he declared.
