ZAMBIA Must Prosper (ZMP) president Kelvin Bwalya, popularly known as KBF, says the Patriotic Front (PF) lost its direction the day it allowed selfishness to take over and threw out the people who helped it rise to power.
Speaking on Prime TV last evening, KBF said his political fallout with the former ruling party was not about wanting a government job, as some have claimed, but about standing for what was right.
“I have never asked for a job,” Fube said.
“The PF became selfish and removed me, thinking they could do without me.”
He explained that he was among the few people who helped build Edgar Lungu’s candidature after the death of President Michael Sata in 2014 and worked tirelessly to ensure Lungu’s victories in 2015 and 2016.
According to Bwalya, his insistence that Lungu could not run for a third term in 2021, made him a target within the party.
“I told the late president to his face, you can’t stand, this is a third term,” KBF revealed.
“The Central Committee decided I was an impediment, so they removed me.”
KBF said PF leaders underestimated his contribution, but Lungu later realised his mistake and called for reconciliation before his passing.
“The late president told me, ‘You have proved your point. Come back, we need to work together.’ At least he recognised my ability,” KBF said.
Bwalya added that after his expulsion, he became politically homeless, and that is when President Hakainde Hichilema approached him for help during the 2021 elections.
