Despite being married to his traditional cousin, Anna Phiri for 20 years, Jackson Mulenga aged 61 told the court presided by Local Court magistrate Harriet Mulenga, that he was forced to outsource sexual pleasure because his wife had suspended all bedroom activities of entertainment nature for 84 months even when there was no national mourning.

In the wake of the starvation, Mulenga turned his sister’s 26-year old daughter, Cleopatra Banda and his wife’s niece his secret mistresses whom he would iron in different venues ranging from his matrimonial home to lodges.

After discovering that her husband’s extra marital activities had resulted in the pregnancy of his own niece, Anna aged 41, came running to the Matero Local Court seeking to divorce him.

According to Anna hailing from 10 Miles, the betrayal came crashing down when a suspicious phone call from her husband’s niece, interrupted their time together, casually dropping a bombshell that she was pregnant.

Anna told Magistrate Mulenga that whenever her husband’s niece visited for holidays, Mulenga would mysteriously abandon their matrimonial bedroom, opting to spend his nights in the sitting room, a move she later discovered was not about space, but secret pleasure.

She revealed that at times, the two would sneak out together, reportedly heading to a lodge, where behind closed doors, they engaged in the unthinkable.

“This man has tortured me mentally. One day, I caught them red-handed, and to add salt to injury, the niece had the audacity to wear my chitenge as if she owned the place,” she stated.

“I no longer love this man, his behaviour is pathetic. He does not support our children; I’m doing everything on my own like I’m not even married. In the end, I had to inform his sister that he had impregnated her own child.”

In his defense, Mulenga shifted the blame to his wife, claiming that she had strayed from their vows and deliberately stirred chaos in their home.

He claimed that whenever he returned to Lusaka from work, as he travelled a lot, and requested for bedroom olympics, his wife would reject him.

Mulenga added that for seven whole years, he had neither seen nor entered his wife’s “tunnel of pleasure”.

“She started misbehaving and doing her own things as if causing confusion was her mission in this marriage. We involved both families but still couldn’t reconcile. My feelings for her faded and I no longer love her,” he stated.

After listening to both parties, Magistrate Mulenga brought the couple’s love story to a close, officially dissolving the marriage and entering it into the record of divorce.

Magistrate Mulenga expressed disbelief and disappointment on how a full-grown up man, a father, husband and uncle like Mulenga would stoop so low as to seek satisfaction from his own niece.

“Olo kuti manta mulibe, how do you feel removing your pants for your own niece? That manhood of yours needs to be tamed. You are a danger to society and so shameless,” she said.

She further ordered Mulenga to compensate Phiri with K20,000.

Custody of the children was granted to the mother, and Mulenga was directed to provide monthly child maintenance of K1,500.
